Months after being ravaged by the Mountain West, the Western Athletic Conference is making its move.

As first reported by ESPN.com's Andy Katz, Texas State, Texas-San Antonio, and the University of Denver will all join the WAC for the 2012-2013 seasons to offset the depatures of Boise State, Fresno State, and Nevada to the MWC.

Texas State will join in all sports as will UTSA, pending official review from the board of regents. Denver, meanwhile, does not field a football team but will join in every other sport.

An official report is expected on Thursday.

The move will come at a cost for both Texas schools, however. The Southland Conference members will pay an approximate exit fee of $250,000 to leave theircurrent conference.

Perhaps the most interesting wrinkle involves the establishment of UTSA's football program. It will begin as an FCS independent in 2011 and will not be involved in the Southland Conference during its inaugural season. It will then play its second year in the Southland Conference before moving to the WAC in its third year.
