Following a visit with the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday, center Tim Barnes is expected to sign a one-year deal with the Rams, according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Barnes, who was an All-Big 12 honorable mention pick at Missouri in 2008, has participated in 45 games with the Rams over the past three seasons, including 14 in 2014. Though most of his appearances have been on special teams, he did start in place of an injured Scott Wells at center for four games in 2013.

The 26-year-old center was signed to the Rams' practice squad in September 2011 after he was cut by the Baltimore Ravens.

Barnes offers the team depth along the offensive line but could have an opportunity to compete with Barrett Jones and Demetrius Rhaney for the starting center job if the team does not acquire a more proven option.
