Report: Manziel mulled transfer prior to 2012 season

Johnny Manziel's recent tweet about wanting to leave Texas A&M wasn't the first time he considered leaving College Station, according to a report by The Dallas Morning News.
Manziel would have been compelled to transfer from Texas A&M if a suspension prior to his 2012 Heisman-winning season had not been lifted, according to an anonymous source cited by The News as having knowledge of the situation.
At 2 a.m. on June 29, 2012, Manziel was arrested in bar district of College Station for misdemeanor fighting, failure to identify and possession of fake IDs.
Manziel was suspended for the 2012 season, but the suspension was later overturned on appeal. At the time, Manziel had already sat out a season as a redshirt. He was generally considered destined to be a backup to Jameill Showers in 2012 before winning the starting job in August.
The A&M athletic department was not involved in the suspension. The source said the dean of student life, Anne Reber, ruled on the appeal.
Aggies coach Kevin Sumlin said that Manziel was disciplined within the football program, but has not given specifics of Manziel's punishment. Manziel has voiced regret about the incident.
Manziel also apparently regretted a posting on his Twitter account last Saturday. The much publicized tweet stated "Bull[****] like tonight is a reason why I can't wait to leave College Station…whenever it may be."
Manziel deleted the tweet soon after posting it, then put up another message apparently seeking empathy:
"Don't ever forget that I love A&M with all of my heart, but please please walk a day in my shoes."
