Report: Manny Parra re-signs with Reds

The Reds and left-hander Manny Parra have reached an agreement on a two-year, $5.5 million dollar deal, according to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com.

Reds beat writer for MLB.com Mark Sheldon reported the details of the contract:

Manny Parra is back with the Reds after he signed a two-year, $5.5 million contract on Wednesday. Parra will earn $2 million in 2014 and $3.5 million in 2015. He has already passed his physical.


Parra, 31, credits then pitching coach (now Reds manager) Brian Price with the signifigant strides he made in 2013 for the Reds. He averaged 11 strikeouts and 2.9 walks per nine innings, posting a 3.33 ERA. He is expected to be used mainly as a left-handed specialist out of the bullpen.
