Former Minnesota Timberwolves forward Latrell Sprewell was arrested in Milwaukee on Monday, according to a report in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Sprewell was arrested for disorderly conduct after police received two complaints about loud music within one hour. Police also told the Journal Sentinel they'd gotten several complaints about loud music at the east Milwaukee residence in recent months.
Sprewell was booked into a Milwaukee jail Monday afternoon, according to the newspaper. This is not his first bout with legal troubles; he reportedly owed the state of Wisconsin unpaid income taxes in 2011 to the tune of $3.5 million, and his house was foreclosed in 2008.
Sprewell averaged 18.3 points and 4.0 assists over his 13-year career. In 2005, he turned down a three-year, $21 million contract extension from the Timberwolves, stating that he had a family to feed and that owner Glen Taylor had better offer up more money. He finished out the 2004-05 season with the Wolves, but became a free agent afterward.
Though teams were interested in signing Sprewell, he never played another NBA game. His agent, Bob Gist, told Sports Illustrated in November 2005 that Sprewell "might as well retire" rather than play for an NBA minimum contract.
Earlier in his career, he was suspended 68 games by the NBA for a 1997 incident in which he attacked and choked P.J. Carlesimo, his coach with the Golden State Warriors at the time. Carlesimo is currently the interim coach of the Brooklyn Nets.
