Jason Kidd might have played his last game as a Dallas Maverick on Saturday, but it won't be the final game of his storied career.
"I'll land somewhere early, I would think," Kidd told The Dallas Morning News.
Kidd became an unrestricted free agent after the defending NBA Champions were swept out of the first round by the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Mavericks would have interest in re-signing the point guard, but only in a backup role should their dreams of signing Deron Williams come to fruition this summer.
And Kidd would have no problem with that.
"That works," Kidd told the paper when asked about being a back-up to Williams. "What's wrong with that? That's not a bad guy to help out. If it comes to that, that would not be a bad situation."
Kidd and Williams share the same agent, Jeff Schwartz.
"We'll spend some time golfing and we got the same agent," Kidd said. "So that makes it easy."
Kidd was originally drafted by the Dallas Mavericks with the second overall pick of the 1994 draft. Kidd was traded to the Phoenix Suns in 1996, but was reacquired by Dallas in a trade with New Jersey in 2008.
Kidd currently ranks second all-time in assists (11,578) and third in steals (2,477) and 3-point field goals made (1,795).
