Report: Kevin Durant should be good to return next season

It hasn't been a great season for the Oklahoma City Thunder, but there's one person who has some good news about Kevin Durant.

ESPN.com's Stephania Bell, who writes a fantasy sports column and is also a physical therapist, says Durant will be able to return to MVP form as soon as next season.

Durant has had three surgeries on his injured right foot since the beginning of this season. He has played just 27 games and is out for the rest of the season.

Bell writes Durant's chances for a successful return next season are "very high."

Durant suffered a Jones Fracture in his right foot, a break of the fifth metatarsal, the long bone on outer part of the foot that connects to the pinkie toe. His most-recent surgery was March 31 and it required a bone graft.

Bell quotes the American Journal of Sports Medicine which looked at the same bone grafting procedure in 21 elite college and pro athletes. Their success rate for return was 100 percent. In the two-and-a-half years following up, only one of the 21 suffered a re-fracture, and that came in an off-court accident.
