Report: Johnny Manziel chooses representation

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 5:09 p.m. ET

Johnny Manziel is inches closer to officially declaring for the NFL Draft.

Tuesday, ESPN's Darren Rovell revealed on Twitter that the Texas A&M Heisman-winning quarterback has chosen an agent and representation.

According to Rovell, Manziel selected Houston-based sports agency Select Sports Group as his contract agency and LRMR for marketing. LRMR is run by Miami Heat star LeBron James' business partner maverick Carter.

The report states it is not known whether or not Manziel has actually signed any deals.

By signing, Manziel will officially forgo his final two seasons of eligibility, though it probably wouldn't come as a surprise to anyone.

Manziel has been vocal about his desire to leave College Station (on Twitter) and seems to enjoy the celebrity status.

Last February, Manziel trademarked "Johnny Football" and already set up JMAN2 Enterprises for his "marketing endeavors."

At this point, Manziel declaring for the draft is more of a 'when' as opposed to an 'if.' Underclassmen have until Jan. 15 to decide.

While Manziel has yet to make his decision public, apparently his teammates have been told.

Receiver Ricky Seals-Jones said on a radio broadcast of a high school game over the weekend that Manziel was leaving school.

While there's no timeline on Manziel’s decision, another Aggie will make his decision Thursday. Offensive lineman Cedric Ogbuehi said that he'll make his intentions public then. Ogbuehi told reporters after the Chick-fil-A Bowl that he received a first-round grade from the draft advisory board.

Wide receiver Mike Evans has already said he'll forgo his final two years of eligibility for the draft.
