New York Knicks' sensation Jeremy Lin's storybook rise will bring him to All-Star weekend.
Lin has been invited to participate in the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest in Orlando, though he won't be dunking, according to an ESPN.com report.
Citing a source, ESPN.com said Lin will "assist" Knicks rookie Iman Shumpert, one of four dunk-contest entrants, in a manner similar to the how Baron Davis helped 2011 champion Blake Griffin.
After not being selected in the 2010 NBA draft, Lin was offered a contract by the Golden State Warriors after an impressive showing in the Las Vegas Summer League. Now a second-year point guard with the Knicks, he has started six games and led the Knicks to seven straight wins. His performance has brought him international attention, including from President Barack Obama.
NBA commissioner David Stern told USA Today earlier this week that Lin won't be a special late addition to the annual Rising Stars game featuring rookies and second-year players at All-Star Weekend.
