Report: Cowboys rookie WR Coale breaks foot

The Dallas Cowboys were unable to complete their first day of organized team activities without an injury. The team's fifth-round pick, wide receiver Danny Coale, suffered a broken left foot Tuesday and will have surgery later this week, according to The Dallas Morning News.
Although 21 wide receivers were drafted ahead of the Virginia Tech product last month, he figured to be in the mix for playing time in his first season. With the departure of Laurent Robinson through free agency, the Cowboys’ No. 3 receiver position has yet to be solidified. After Miles Austin and Dez Bryant on the depth chart, Coale is in a group that includes Kevin Ogletree, Dwayne Harris, Raymond Radway and Andre Holmes.
The 6-foot, 200-pound Coale has the ability to play in the slot or on the outside while also lining up on special teams. During his collegiate career with the Hokies, Coale caught 165 passes for 2,658 yards and eight touchdowns. At the NFL Scouting Combine, he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds.
Coale is the second Cowboys draft pick to be injured this month. Outside linebacker Kyle Wilber, a fourth-round pick, fractured his right index finger during the team's rookie mini-camp and had surgery. The Cowboys are also awaiting the return of their first-round selection, cornerback Morris Claiborne, who has been recovering from left wrist surgery.
