A Massachusetts high school track coach was fired for letting his male players run shirtless, according to a local report Wednesday.
School officials in Westwood, Mass., had been adamant that the teenage players had to don uniforms in practices as summer draws near.
Coach Tom Davis told his team that shirts were mandatory, but some took off their sleeveless uniforms anyway at the end of practice while covered in sweat.
That was too much for the assistant principal, who promptly fired Davis on the spot.
"I'm obviously in disbelief. I've never witnessed anything this ridiculous," Davis told the Westwood Press in the town 25 miles southwest of Boston.
The squad at Westwood High School then lost their first meet of the season under a replacement coach.
