Report: Chad Walker to join Sooners' staff

A day after the university extended Bob Stoops a contract extension, the Oklahoma football coach has extended a job offer.

According to Pete Roussel at coachingsearch.com, Chad Walker will join the staff at OU as a defensive quality control assistant.

It would be an interesting hire for Stoops, who has shaken up the staff considerably the past two years - including bringing back brother Mike Stoops as the team’s defensive coordinator a season ago. The team also has a new offensive line and defensive line coach.

Even more interesting: Walker coached alongside Alabama coach Nick Saban when Saban was at LSU. Walker was a quality control coach on LSU's 2003 national title team. Walker then had the same job on Saban’s staff when Saban coached the Miami Dolphins.

Walker has since worked at Bryant University and Mississippi College where he spent the past three seasons as the team’s defensive coordinator.
