So apparently Johnny Manziel isn't the only person at Texas A&M who may need to take a break from Twitter.
According to The Eagle, Texas A&M president R. Bowen Loftin inadvertently committed an NCAA violation over the summer by tweeting to a top football recruit.
On June 14 Loftin tweeted "Enjoyed meeting you yesterday during your visit to #TAMU." That tweet was directed to Jordan Davis, a tight end from Clear Lake. Davis tweeted back to Loftin "Yessir it was nice meeting you #gigem."
Davis visited A&M the day before, met Loftin and committed to the school the same day.
According to the NCAA, Loftin violated NCAA bylaw 13.10.5, which states that "a member institution shall not publicize (or arrange for publicity of) a prospective student-athlete's visit to the institution's campus..."
The report said that an A&M athletic staff saw the tweet, which was deleted, and that Loftin didn't know the NCAA rule.
The school reported the infraction to the SEC and it was forwarded on to the NCAA. It's unclear if the NCAA will take any action.
Unlike Manziel, who hasn't tweeted since the NCAA and school began its investigation into whether or not he sold his signatures for cash in early August, Loftin is still an active tweeter.
Loftin, who tweets under the moniker @aggieprez, has more than 26,000 followers on the social media site.
