Redshirt freshman to make first start for West Virginia

West Virginia coach Dana Holgorsen warned that changes were coming at offensive skill positions. He wasn't bluffing.
Redshirt freshman Ford Childress will make his first career start on Saturday against Georgia State, replacing junior Paul Millard. Holgorsen announced the decision on Thursday during his coaches show in Morgantown.
"It's his time. It's his job and we're going to see what he can do."
Millard started the first two games and Florida State transfer Clint Trickett played two series in the Mountaineers' opener.
Childress was eliminated from the quarterback competition on Aug. 25, but earned first-team reps in practice this week after Millard struggled in a 16-7 loss to Oklahoma last week. Millard has completed 40-of-66 passes for 455 yards and one touchdown with an interception.
Childress has yet to play a snap for the Mountaineers, but the Houston native came to West Virginia as the nation's No. 26 quarterback. As a senior at Kincaid High, he threw for 3,171 yards, 41 touchdowns and seven interceptions in 10 games.
