After first losing his spot in the starting rotation with the return of Mat Latos, Tony Cingrani has now lost his place on the big-league roster.

The Reds announced Friday that Cingrani was optioned to Triple-A Louisville and pitcher Jumbo Diaz selected to come up to Cincinnati.

After 340 minor-league appearances over seasons, Diaz, the 278-pound reliever, will finally get his first shot on a major-league mound.

Cingrani had struggled this season and gave up a walk-off walk to the Pirates in extra innings Thursday.

Diaz has been successful in 2014 with the Bats, going 2-2 with a 1.35 ERA and 18 saves in 30 outings.

The Reds also moved pitchers Sean Marshall and Trevor Bell to the 60-day DL.
