Rays, Red Sox exchange barbs on Twitter

A dramatic game between the Tampa Bay Rays and Boston Red Sox on Monday night at Fenway Park had it all: High emotions, memorable plays and a controversial call at home plate in the eighth inning that went Tampa Bay's way.
The Rays won, 2-1, taking a half-game lead in the American League East in the process. The October-baseball-in-July feelings spilled over onto Twitter, as the Rays' official account marked the occasion with a slight jab at its division rival.
Dear @RedSox scoreboard operator - your standings are wrong. Yours truly, @RaysBaseball.

In Beantown, however, that sentiment went over as well as pinstripes near Pesky’s Pole. Shortly after the Rays’ tweet, the Red Sox responded with a jab of their own, with an eye toward a return to Tropicana Field late in the season.
Don't worry @raysbaseball we look forward to seeing you in Tampa in September for our home games at the Trop.

The Rays and Red Sox close their season series with three games from Sept. 10-12 in St. Petersburg, Fla. Emotions are heating up between the two contenders, both on the field and online.
Stay tuned.
