The Tampa Bay Rays invited 11 minor-league players to spring training Monday.
Those who will make appearances in Port Charlotte, Fla., are catcher Mayo Acosta, right-hander Matt Andriese, catcher Curt Casali, infielder Cole Figueroa, right-hander Steve Geltz, right-hander Merrill Kelly, left-hander Braulio Lara, left-hander Adam Liberatore, outfielder Mikie Mahtook, catcher Luke Maile and right-hander Victor Mateo.
Acosta, 26, has thrown out 40.1 percent of attempted base stealers in his seven-year minor league career. He hit seven home runs in 71 games with Class AA Montgomery last season.
Andriese, 24, was acquired in a seven-player trade with the San Diego Padres on Jan. 22. He went a combined 11-7 with a 3.27 ERA with Class AA San Antonio and Class AAA Tucson last season.
Casali, 25, hit .383 with five home runs and 31 RBI in 35 games last season with Class AA Montgomery. He also spent time with Class A Charlotte.
Figueroa, 26, hit .286 with three home runs and 62 RBI for Class AAA Durham last season.
Geltz, 26, went 5-3 with a 2.82 ERA and 80 strikeouts in 41 games with Class AAA Durham last season.
Kelly, 25, went 13-10 with a 3.64 ERA in 28 games (26 starts) with Class AA Montgomery and Class AAA Durham last season.
Lara, 25, spent most of last season with Class AA Montgomery, where he went 4-2 with a 4.38 ERA in 45 games.
Liberatore, 26, spent most of last season with Class AAA Durham, where he went 5-3 with a 3.58 ERA and 69 strikeouts in 43 appearances.
Mahtook, 24, spent last season with Class AA Montgomery and hit .254 with seven home runs and 68 RBI. He led the Biscuits with 71 runs scored, 30 doubles and 25 stolen bases.
Maile, 22, spent last season with Class A Bowling Green, where he batted .283 with four home runs and 49 RBI.
Mateo, 24, spent last season with Class AA Montgomery and went 7-9 with a 3.93 ERA over a career-high 153 1/3 innings.
Pitchers and catchers report to spring training Feb. 14 at Charlotte Sports Park. The first full-squad workout is Feb. 20.
The Rays have invited 59 players to major-league spring training.
