Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Evan Longoria was named the
American League’s Player of the Week for games played from May 6-12
It’s the sixth such honor for Longoria, who’s batting .333
with nine home runs and 26 RBI this season. He hit .464 (13-for-28) with three
home runs, five doubles and 11 RBI over his last seven games. He currently has a seven-game hitting streak.
The Rays, who have won five consecutive contests, are 19-18
and four games behind the New York Yankees in the AL East. The Rays begin a
three-game series against the Boston Red Sox at 7:10 p.m. ET on Tuesday at
Tropicana Field.
