Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Desmond Jennings was named the American League's Player of the Week on Monday.
He hit .355 (11 for 31) with three home runs and three RBI in seven games from April 28-May 4. His current seven-game hitting streak is his longest of the season. He's batting .294 with four home runs and 10 RBI for the year.
Jennings and the Rays ended a 5-5 road trip against the Chicago White Sox, Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees on Sunday at Yankee Stadium. On Tuesday, they return to Tropicana Field for a six-game home stand against the Baltimore Orioles and Cleveland Indians.
