Rattlers burn Blaze, advance to ArenaBowl

PHOENIX (AP) -- Nick Davila threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Maurice Purify with 9 seconds left to send the Rattlers to the ArenaBowl for the seventh time with a 75-69 win over the Utah Blaze 75-69 on Saturday in the National Conference championship game.
Kevin McCullough intercepted Blaze quarterback Tommy Grady's pass in the end zone with 35 seconds to go to set up the winning drive.
The Rattlers will face the Philadelphia Soul on Friday night in New Orleans. The Soul beat the Jacksonville Sharks 89-34 on Friday in the American Conference title game.
Davila finished 21 of 39 for 311 yards and eight touchdowns and did not throw an interception. Purify had nine catches for 142 yards and five touchdowns.
Grady, the Arena League's leading passer this year, was 37 of 63 for 441 yards and 10 touchdowns but also threw three interceptions. Aaron Lesue had 12 catches for 213 yards and five touchdowns, and Tysson Poots caught 19 passes for 182 yards and four scores.
The Rattlers, the league champions in 1994 and 1997, lost to the Sharks last year in the ArenaBowl.
