Rangers show support for student injured in accident

The Texas Rangers are doing their best to support a west Texas student who was injured in a sledding accident.
Garett Parrish, a senior football player at Coahoma High School, was critically injured in a sledding accident last month and suffered a spinal cord injury.
Friends and family members started the #gpstrong hashtag for Parrish and there’s a picture of him on the school’s Web site as one of students spelling out "GP Strong."
Parrish has had a pair of surgeries since the accident and soon should be moving to Houston to begin rehab according to his sister Megan Parrish.
A family friend reached out to the Rangers for support and Texas shortstop Elvis Andrus and pitcher Derek Holland responded by posing for pictures with a "#gpstrong" sign. The club is also sending a care package to Garett Parish.

"Anytime we can help someone we want to do it," said Holland. "It’s important to know that the players on this team and the Texas Rangers are behind them."
The Rangers have been busy this spring lending support to the community. Manager Jeff Banister spoke with a high school student from Lake Travis last weekend who was recently diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.
