The Texas Rangers are heading to the desert, or at least High Desert, for their new High Class A affiliate.
The club's new High A team is the High Desert Mavericks in the California League. The organization signed a two-year development deal with High Desert, which is located in Adelanto, Calif. High Desert replaces Myrtle Beach, which is now a Chicago Cubs affiliate.
The Rangers had been in the California League from 2005-2010 when it had a Class A team in Bakersfield. High Desert was a Seattle affiliate in 2014.
The Texas High A team in Myrtle Beach went to the Carolina League playoffs each of its four seasons.
