If there was one pitcher that tried to outshine Cliff Lee during the playoffs, it was Colby Lewis. His pitching performance in Game 6 of the ALCS was the third best moment of the 2010 season.
For all the Rangers fans that remember the playoff struggles in the 90s against the Yankees, the Game 6 win was euphoric. Lewis went eight innings, gave up three hits, one run and struck out seven as the Rangers closed out the Yankees in front of the home crowd, 6-1.
If you combine his Game 6 performance with his Game 2 performance, one could argue that he should have been ALCS MVP. Game 2 was the first ever postseason home win for the Rangers and Game 6 was the clincher. Lewis also went on to win the only game for the Rangers in the World Series.
He went 3-0 with a 1.71 earned run average and 24 strikeouts in 26 1/3 innings during the postseason. As flashy as Lee was during the playoff run, Lewis was quietly better and more effective as the playoffs went on.
