ARLINGTON, Texas – Texas right-hander Colby Lewis will face hitters on Saturday for the first time since having surgery to repair a torn flexor tendon in his right elbow last July.
Lewis, who was with the Rangers for Opening Day, is slated to throw live batting practice in Surprise, Ariz. Lewis is scheduled to have six live BP sessions before beginning a rehab routine. He hopes the rehab assignment can begin in early May.
But he won't know anything about a timeline until after he throws for the first time.
"We're going to discuss and see how the arm reacts," said Lewis. "But more than likely it will be three, four days off and then pitch again."
