The Texas Rangers did make a move at the winter meetings, selecting outfielder Delino DeShields in the Rule 5 Draft.

DeShields, a first-round pick for Houston in 2010, hit .236 in Double A last season with 11 home runs and 57 RBI in 114 games. He's stolen at least 50 bases in each of the last three seasons, including a total of 101 in 2012. He's the son of former major leaguer Delino DeShields.

Texas did lose infielder Odubel Herrera to Philadelphia in the Rule 5 Draft as well.

The Rangers also made two picks in the Triple A phase of the draft, getting first baseman/outfielder Rock Shoulders from the Chicago Cubs and infielder Hiram Martinez from Miami.

Texas also added three players to their spring training roster, giving invites to right-handers Anthony Bass and Ross Wolf along with outfielder Antoan Richardson. All three signed minor-league deals with the club.

Bass has appeared in at least 20 games in the majors in each of the last four seasons. He spent the 2014 season playing for the Houston organization.

Wolf played in Korea in 2014 after spending two seasons with the Texas organization. He had a 1-3 record and a 4.15 ERA for Texas in 2013.

Richardson, 31, has played in 22 games in the majors. He hit .271 in Triple A for the Yankees in 2014.
