ST. LOUIS -- Robert Quinn and Johnny Hekker will represent the St. Louis Rams in the Pro Bowl next month, the NFL announced Friday.
Quinn, the Rams' third-year defensive end, is the organization's first defensive player to be picked for the Pro Bowl since defensive end Leonard Little and safety Aeneas Williams were selected in 2003.
The University of North Carolina product leads the NFL with 18 sacks and is second in the league with seven forced fumbles. The Rams coaches have credited him with 15 tackles for loss, 34 quarterback pressures and 33 quarterback hits.
"It's incredible effort," Rams coach Jeff Fisher said earlier this week when commenting on Quinn's success. "It's relentless play, and his pursuit and his athletic ability. It's hard to describe. ... It's just been an outstanding effort this year."
Hekker, in his second season out of Oregon State, is the first Rams punter to be picked since Dale Hatcher in 1985. He leads the NFL in net punting average at 43.8 yards, which is the best mark in Rams history and the highest single-season mark in league history.
"I think he's been dynamite," Rams special teams coordinator John Fassel said following Friday's practice. "He has also continued to improve, so again like the rest of the core guys, I think we've got young guys that we can really build around."
The 2014 Pro Bowl will be on Jan. 26 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
