Ramon Dominguez is No. 1 jockey in New York

Jockey Ramon Dominguez has completed a record-breaking year in New York.

The Venezuelan rider shattered the mark for victories in New York with 376 in 2009 and won riding titles at all three New York Racing Association tracks. He competed in New York year-round for the first time.

The 32-year-old Dominguez rode five winners on two occasions, had four winners nine times and won more than 30 stakes races at Aqueduct, Belmont and Saratoga.

Hall of Famer Angel Cordero Jr. had the NYRA wins record of 340, set in 1982. Nationally, Dominguez was second behind Russell Baze's 415.

Gary Contessa won the NYRA training title for the fourth straight year with 112 victories. Todd Pletcher was second with 89 winners.
