Rainout in Round Rock doesn't dampen Hamilton's mood

ROUND ROCK, Texas -- Josh Hamilton was able to find the bright spots in an otherwise rainy and gloomy day at Dell Diamond.
Hamilton, who is with Round Rock getting ready for his stint with the Texas Rangers, took about 200 swings in the batting cages because Wednesday's game was postponed. He's also looking forward to a doubleheader Thursday because it will allow him two games to get at-bats and get him a step closer to a return in Texas.
And if how Hamilton is feeling is any indication of how he'll perform with the Rangers, Texas fans could see some vintage Hamilton when he's ready to play.
"It feels really good, really good," Hamilton said. "The last two at-bats last night felt really good. I was looking forward to trying to do it today. Tomorrow will be good, getting multiple at-bats, at least eight, maybe more."
Hamilton continues to focus on working on staying back in his swing, working with his hands and taking his body out of the swing. He's also trying to keep the bat level because he said he was keeping his hands too high during his difficult two seasons in Los Angeles.
"I wasn't my normal self," he said. "I was almost like in survival mode, thinking, trying to figure it out and I couldn't get it done."
When he's able to get it done with the Rangers remains to be seen. The Wednesday rainout may have eliminated any chance that Hamilton would get activated for this weekend's series against Cleveland. He hasn't even played in a full game yet for Round Rock and has just nine at-bats over three games.
He's gone through the regular soreness associated with getting going again but he's used to that.
"Obviously the goal was to get at-bats and get in some game situations and run the bases and do all the things I need to do," he said. "It will be good tomorrow to have that many at-bats at one time."
