A steady downpour began about 30 minutes into the Cardinals workout Wednesday morning, causing players to scurry from the back fields and into the clubhouse. The rain is not expected to last long, but the back fields only have tarps for the plate and mound and could be unusable pretty soon.
Players scheduled to throw Wednesday could throw in the covered batting cage if the rain doesn't let up.
