A railing collapse at a Cincinnati high school football game Friday caused several injuries and may trigger closer inspections of stadiums across the area, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported.

The incident Friday took place during a game between Sycamore and Walnut Hills at Sycamore Junior High.

A Montgomery Fire Department lieutenant told the newspaper two girls were transported to an area hospital after the railing in front of the student section collapsed at the end of the first half. Several other minor injuries were treated at the scene.

The students fell approximately four feet to a walk in front of the stands.

A Sycamore schools spokesperson said the field and bleachers were inspected Nov. 15, but said another one is now needed. Ohio law requires an annual inspection of school buildings, the paper reported, but it does not require outdoor athletic facilities to be checked.
