Ryan Raburn's season is over as the Indians announced before Wednesday's game against Houston that he will have surgery on his left knee in the coming days to repair a torn meniscus. Raburn suffered the injury during the third inning of last Saturday's game against the Tigers.
"I don't want no pity party by any means but it has been a tough year. I just have to keep battling and grinding through it," Raburn said on Sunday.
Raburn has battled injuries for most of the season and is hitting only .200. He was one of the Indians surprise players last year when he batted .272 and had 16 home runs.
"Those things happen," said manager Terry Francona of Raburn's disappointing season. "What I was most excited about the other night is he swung the bat like he can swing it and that gives us a big lift."
