Quick Hits: Not just a cramp?

Early News: According to manager Brad Ausmus, Justin Verlander still felt a little sore today while throwing at 60 percent from 60 feet.
At this point, it's at best questionable if he will make his scheduled first regular-season start next Wednesday in Detroit -- and at worst doubtful.
Tom Gage -- That's the best way to put it, isn't it, Dana, "questionable or doubtful" because I don't hear the word "probable" being used anywhere.
Dana Wakiji -- Ausmus characterized it as "a stretch" but said they wouldn't count it out yet. So I would expect to see Anibal Sanchez next Wednesday.
TG -- So have the Tigers updated what exactly is bothering him? It can't still be a cramp, can it?
DW -- They haven't moved off calling it a cramp, but they did acknowledge it might be a "very light strain" a few days ago. That's probably more like it.
TG -- I am somewhat surprised by this, however; Verlander still reports some soreness five days after having to leave a game.
For a pitcher as important to the Tigers as he is, why no MRI? Precautionary MRIs are done all the time in the big leagues.
DW -- Ausmus said yesterday that today we would know a lot more. So I think that after throwing today and still experiencing some soreness that it's time to get that done. In fact, it's probably happening back in Lakeland while the team is in Kissimmee to face the Houston Astros.
