Powell powers Arkansas past Alcorn State

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) -- Marshawn Powell scored 18 points, leading Arkansas to a 97-57 win over Alcorn State on Saturday.

Powell had 12 points before halftime, connecting on 5 of 6 shots, including a pair of 3-pointers.

Arkansas (5-4) never trailed and didn't play any of its starters the final 12 minutes. The Razorbacks led by as many as 42 points after halftime.

Coty Clarke scored 14 points for Arkansas off the bench, while freshman Michael Qualls added 10 points.

After Alcorn State pulled within one point midway through the first half, the Razorbacks used runs of 18-4 and 22-1 to put the game out of reach.

LeAntwan Luckett led the Braves (2-7) with 20 points. Anthony Nieves added 15 points.
