TAMPA, Fla. -- Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Williams was stabbed in the thigh at his Tampa home Sunday afternoon by his brother, according to police, and transported to St. Joseph's Hospital, where he's receiving treatment.

On Sunday night, the Bucs released a statement acknowledging an incident involving Williams.
"We are aware of the situation that occurred at the residence of Mike Williams and are working with him and the authorities to get additional information," the statement read. "While we have limited knowledge at this time, our primary concern is for the safety and well bring of all involved. We will refrain from further comment until we can get a better understanding of the situation."
The incident occurred at the gated community in the northern reaches of Tampa where Williams lives.
The four-year wide receiver has struggled with off-the-field issues this offseason. He faces misdemeanor charges of criminal mischief and trespassing stemming from a December incident, and his lifestyle choices have caught the attention of new Bucs coach Lovie Smith and new general manager Jason Licht.
"There's a pattern here and it's disturbing," Smith told the Tampa Bay Times in February. "No one is bigger than this football team. He has to understand that.
"Have I been disappointed in Mike Williams? Of course."
Last July, the Bucs signed Williams to a six-year, $40.25 million contract. He was thought to be Tampa Bay's answer as its No. 2 wide receiver last season, but he was placed on injured reserve Oct. 28 with a torn right hamstring after catching 22 passes for 216 yards and two touchdowns in six games.
A former fourth-round pick from Syracuse, he has 215 catches for 2,947 yards with 25 touchdowns in his career.
