MIAMI (AP) -- Miami Heat rookie center Dexter Pittman is expected to miss 5-6 weeks after having surgery to repair cartilage in his right knee.
The Heat announced the surgery Tuesday, saying Pittman will begin rehabilitation immediately.
He has yet to appear for Miami this season, instead spending time with the team's NBA Development League affiliate in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Since being last assigned there Jan. 6, Pittman averaged 13.3 points and 7.7 rebounds in 14 games. Pittman led the NBDL team in blocks seven times, rebounds five times and points on four occasions.
