Kyle Lohse will start the Cardinals' Grapefruit League opener on Monday, March 5.
Chris Carpenter will face hitters for the first time Tuesday. He is not injured, but will likely miss a start or two this spring to keep his innings down after a taxing and grueling career-high workload in 2011. Manager Mike Matheny has him "penciled in" as the Opening Day starter but said nothing had been finalized as of yet.
