Phoenix FC finalizing roster for inaugural year

Phoenix FC, in preparations for training camp for its inaugural season as a member of the United Soccer Leagues' pro division, added five players to its roster Wednesday.
The newly signed players, all of whom have local connections, are defender Brian Holmes, who graduated from Phoenix Desert Vista in 2008; midfielder Jimmy Lara, a 2012 Chandler Hamilton grad; midfielder Thomas Ramos, who graduated from Phoenix Pinnacle in 2010; defender Jose Ramos, an '05 Phoenix Trevor Browne product; and goalkeeper Humberto Soriano, who graduated from Phoenix Fountain Hills in '09 and Yavapai Junior College in 2011.
"Our goal has always been to bring a mix of experienced players and promising talent to our roster," said Phoenix FC managing director Rui Filipe Bento. "Arizona has a robust youth program that fosters wonderful players, and we are very lucky to have been able to watch many of these players develop throughout their high school and college careers."
Added head coach David Robertson: "Having the open tryouts late last year helped us identify some fantastic local talent. We look forward to having these players join us on the field and to having them show their hometown just how far they've come."
The five additions join previously signed striker Darren Mackie, midfielder Diego Faria, defender Devon Grousis, fForward Aaron King, midfielder Reid Schmitt, defender Brad Keller, defender Renan Felipe Boufleur, midfielder Netinho, defender Cyprian Hedrick, defender Scott Morrison and midfielder Anthony Obodai.
The Wolves will open their inaugural season in March, playing their home games at Sun Devil Soccer Stadium.
