Blue Adams has been hired as assistant defensive backs coach, Charlie Bullen is the new defensive assistant, Ben Johnson takes over as offensive assistant and Chris Mosley will serve as assistant offensive line coach, the Miami Dolphins announced in a series of moves on Friday.

The Dolphins also announced that running backs coach Jeff Nixon has been retained by new head coach Joe Philbin.

Adams was defensive backs coach at Northern Iowa in 2011 after a year as defensive graduate assistant at Purdue. He played for the Jaguars and Lions in the NFL, recording 51 tackles in 50 games.

Bullen served as graduate assistant coach at the University of Iowa the last two years. He also worked with Hawkeye quarterbacks the same time then offensive coordinator, current Dolphins wide receivers coach Ken O'Keefe was at the school.

Johnson was at Boston College the last three seasons, including the last two as offensive graduate assistant.

Mosley has prior NFL experience with the Buccaneers, working with the offensive and defensive lines in Tampa Bay. He also had stints at Princeton, Boston College and Villanova.

Nixon returns for his second season with the Dolphins after helping Reggie Bush rush for over 1,000 yards last season. Daniel Thomas emerged as a top rookie back, piling up 581 yards, the most among AFC first-year players.
