EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — The honors continue to roll in for Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson and rookie kicker Blair Walsh.

Peterson, after rushing for a single-month record of 861 yards, was named the NFC's Offensive Player of the Month for December. Walsh, who made 11 of 12 field goal attempts in December, took home the Special Teams Player of the Month award. The two were also named to the Pro Bowl earlier in December and will be a big part of Minnesota's playoff game Saturday night at Green Bay.

The honor for Peterson actually marks the first time he's won the award in his stellar career. He went over 200 yards twice in five December games and fell one yard short in last week's win with 34 carries for 199 yards. He added five touchdowns in the month.

Walsh became the first Vikings kicker to win the award since 1994. Walsh was 5 of 5 from 50 yards or more during the month, part of a record-setting 10 of 10 performance this season. His three field goals of 50 yards or more at St. Louis on Dec. 16 to set a new NFL single-game record. He added 12 touchbacks on kickoffs, the second-highest total in the NFC for the month.
