Peterson fourth in Pro Bowl balloting

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is fifth overall in Pro Bowl balloting in the most recent numbers released by the league Wednesday.

Peterson, who leads the league in rushing with 1,236 yards, has 484,227 votes, trailing Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning (586,523 votes), New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady (534,020), Houston Texans running back Arian Foster (519,261) and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (485,196). Three weeks remain in the voting.

Peterson was named to the Pro Bowl each of his first four seasons before missing out last year after dealing with injuries.

Vikings defensive end Jared Allen (222,441) leads all NFC vote-getters at defensive end. Percy Harvin has 78,649 votes to lead all kick returners in the NFC. League spokesman Randall Liu also tweeted on Wednesday that Harvin, who leads Minnesota with 62 catches, is fifth in voting at receiver.

Rookie tackle Matt Kalil is the leading vote-getter for the NFC at tackle.
