The starting goaltender on the Penn State men's lacrosse team was one of two men killed early Friday in a car accident in Boston.

Connor Darcey, 21, was one of two men pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, Boston-area media reported. Boston police said they found the car overturned at about 3 a.m., with an unidentified 27-year-old male also dead at the scene. A third man was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Darcey, a Wellesley, Mass., native, recently completed his sophomore year. He was named to the Big Ten all-tournament team last month and finished his first season as the starter with a .553 save percentage for the Nittany Lions.

Penn State officials confirmed Darcey's death.

"Our hearts go out to Connor Darcey's family, teammates, friends and everyone who knew him," the school's athletic department said in a statement. "It's a very sad day. The Penn State family has suffered a tremendous loss and we are deeply saddened."
