Pelicans unveil new alternate uniform

When the New Orleans Pelicans take the court in New Orleans on October 28 to open the 2014-15 season, they'll be resplendent in red, outfitted in the team's new uniform.
The Pelicans' alternate uniforms captures the character of the Crescent City: the letters "N" and "O" combine to form a basketball on the shorts' waistband. The jersey front features the team name "Pelicans" boldly, which is different than the white and navy versions the team unveiled last year.

"We couldn't be more excited to unveil our new alternate red uniforms just a week away from the start of training camp," owner Tom Benson said. "Our fans have had such a positive response to all of the Pelicans gear that is available- we can't wait to see everyone in red on Opening Night."
The Pelicans tested the new uniforms out Tuesday by debuting them in front of the eager student body of St. Catherine of Siena in Metairie. Models Anthony Davis, Austin Rivers, Eric Gordon and Jimmer Fredette received wild applause from almost 200 5th, 6th and 7th graders.
"The red signifies the passion our players have for the game and our fans have for their basketball team," owner and vice chairman Rita Benson LeBlanc said. "We can't wait to see both on display when we debut these uniforms on Opening Night."
The Pelicans will wear the red uniforms at home four times: October 28, December 16, December 20 and April 15.
