ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) Long-shot Peggy Sue's Loose beat West Coast Storm by 1 1/4 lengths Thursday in the $53,000 allowance feature at Santa Anita.
Ridden by Kent Desormeaux for trainer Richard Rosales and owner Laura Armstrong, the 5-year-old mare ran a mile on turf in 1:35.61 to top the field of eight fillies or mares bred or sired in California.
Peggy Sue's Loose paid $23.00, $9.80 and $5.80 for her second straight victory after failing to win in her first 12 career starts. West Coast Storm returned $9.20 and $6.40, and Hanserella paid $11 to show.
