If the season ended today, the New Orleans Saints and St. Louis Rams would meet in the wild card round of the NFC Playoffs.
The Saints (9-3) and Rams (6-6) meet Sunday at 3:05 p.m. CST in the Superdome, but if the standings remain the same four weeks from now, in spite of the records, the playoff rematch would be in St. Louis.
Saints coach Sean Payton said there was discussion at one point of deciding home field advantage based on record and not seed in the playoffs, especially after the 2008 playoffs, when AFC West champion San Diego finished 8-8 and played host to Indianapolis, who was 12-4 and a wild card.
