Past complaints are reason AT&T Stadium roof was closed during Sunday's Dallas Cowboys game

Were you at the Dallas Cowboys game on Sunday, wondering why the AT&T Stadium roof wasn't open on such a beautiful day?

Well, Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones had an answer for you on Monday.

"One thing we've learned over the years, when it's still on the hotter end of things … even though it's a nice temperature, if you're sitting directly in the sun, it can get awfully warm for about half the stadium for our fans," Jones said during a weekly radio interview on 105.3 The Fan [KRLD-FM]. "We've had complaints like that. Obviously our goal is to make it a great experience for everybody that goes out there.

"And for all the fans, no matter what side of the stadium you're on, when that roof's open and that sun's coming down, even though it might be 75-76 degrees and it seems nice, when you're in the direct sun, when you're in the hotter time of year … then it can make for an uncomfortable experience."

Since the stadium opened in 2009, the roof has been open for 13 of the 36 games the Cowboys have played there.
