Panthers trade Bergenheim to Minnesota for 3rd-round pick

The Florida Panthers have traded forward Sean Bergenheim and a seventh-round pick in the 2016 draft to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for a 2016 third-round selection.
Bergenheim, 31, has recorded eight goals and 18 points in 39 games for the Panthers this season. Following a string of healthy scratches, he had requested a trade out of Florida earlier this month.
"When he was healthy, he played hard," Panthers general manager Dale Tallon said of Bergenheim. "He had a good playoff run for us a couple years ago and had a good year that year."
A former first-round pick, 22nd overall, of the New York Islanders in the 2002 draft, Bergenheim has recorded 95 goals and 179 points in 489 career NHL games split between New York, Tampa Bay and Florida.
Florida does not retain any of Bergenheim's salary in the deal.
