Pakistan recovers to 81-2 after Gabriel's early strikes

SHARJAH, United Arab Emirates (AP) Fast bowler Shannon Gabriel provided West Indies a dream start with two wickets off the first four deliveries before Pakistan recovered to reach 81-2 at lunch in the third and final test on Sunday.
Gabriel had Azhar Ali caught in second slip before the fast bowler successfully referred an lbw appeal against Asad Shafiq after Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq won his third successive toss and opted to bat.
Experienced Younis Khan and left-hander Sami Aslam then dug in and were unbeaten on 39 and 37 respectively at the interval.
West Indies could have dismissed Younis on 30 in the space of three deliveries from off-spinner Roston Chase. But Leon Johnson dropped Younis at short mid-wicket and then wicketkeeper Shane Dowrich fumbled a leg side stumping with the batsman way outside his crease.
Pakistan has already clinched the series with victories in the first two tests at Dubai and Abu Dhabi and brought back seamers Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Amir in place of Rahat Ali and Sohail Khan.
Dowrich also recovered from injury after missing the second test and replaced Shai Hope while 19-year-old fast bowler Alzarri Joseph played his first test of the series and came in place of Miguel Cummins.
