The Gophers got just enough offense and a strong weekend in the nets from Alex Kangas to post a pair of 3-2 victories at Michigan Tech.

Minnesota (8-9-1, 6-7-1 WCHA) broke a second-period tie on Saturday with goals from Taylor Matson and Mike Carman. Jake Hansen also scored on the power play for the Gophers, while Kangas stopped 22 shots for his third consecutive victory.

On Friday, Patrick White scored the game-winning goal with 26 seconds left in the third period, capping a three-goal comeback that lifted the Gophers to a 3-2 win at Michigan Tech.

White swatted the puck out of midair on his backhand to give the Gophers only their second Friday night win in eight tries this year. Mike Hoeffel scored Minnesota's first two goals after the Huskies jumped to a 2-0 lead on two power-play tallies.

Kangas stopped 23 shots to earn the win for the Gophers, who outshot Tech 40-25 on the night.

The Gophers are off until Jan. 2, when they host Bowling Green in the Dodge Holiday Classic at Mariucci Arena.
