Pa. high school senior becomes unlikely basketball hero

Four years of hard work outside the spotlight paid off for a Bensalem (Pa.) High student during Saturday's Senior Day basketball game against Neshaminy High.
Kevin Grow, an 18-year-old senior with Down syndrome, went from team manager to leading scorer as Bensalem rolled up a 64-40 victory before a huge home crowd.
Grow was on the court at the start of the game to score an easy layup, then coach John Mullin sent the young man back into the contest with two minutes remaining. He knocked down four of his five 3-point shots in quick fashion to end the game with a team-high 14 points.
Grow's electrifying performance reminded us Jason McElwain, an autustic student from upstate New York who became a national sensation in 2006 by draining six 3-pointers in a season-ending game and being carried off the court in triumph as students rushed the court at the final buzzer.
