Olympic figure skater Gracie Gold named L.A. Sportswoman of Year
Olympic figure skater Gracie Gold is the L.A. Sportswoman of the Year.
The Los Angeles Sports Council tabbed Gold -- the 2014 U.S. National champion and Olympic bronze medalist -- for the honor on Thursday.
The awards will be presented March 15 as part of the L.A. Sports Awards (which can be seen on FOX Sports West/Prime Ticket on a date and time TBD).
Gold joins Clayton Kershaw and Mike Trout, who were named the L.A. Sportsmen of the Year on Wednesday.
The 19-year-old Gold trains at The Toyota Sports Complex in El Segundo, where the Kings and Lakers practice as well. She made a big splash by winning nationals in Boston last year and then helped the U.S. team to bronze in the Olympics in Sochi. She finished fourth in the individual ladies skating competition.
Gold is back on the ice training after recovering from a stress fracture in her left foot. She posted video of her return to the ice in El Segundo on Instagram recently, completing jumps to Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off."
Gold is scheduled to defender her title at the U.S. Nationals Jan. 17-25 in Greensboro, N.C.
